EDLR 3298: Introduction to Students Affairs: Education Outside the Classroom

 

The course Introduction to Student Affairs: Education Outside the Classroom is a 1-credit, 10 week accelerated course, being offered Fridays, 12 – 2pm. The course introduces the field of student affairs to juniors and seniors, through a combination of readings, class sessions, projects and experiential learning opportunities. Additional details about the course are available on the course flyer and last year’s syllabus. The assignments and course structure for fall 2008 will be similar to those outlined in last year’s syllabus.

Students must apply to be considered for the course. To apply students must:

  • Submit a personal interest statement.
  • Submit a copy of their resume.

Your personal interest statement should be sent as a word document. Responses should be typed using a 12 point font, one inch margins and cannot exceed 400 words. Please list your name, PeopleSoft number, class standing and major on your personal interest statement.

Your personal interest statement should address the following:

  • Describe why you want to enroll in Students Affairs: Education Outside the Classroom as well as your interest in the field of Student Affairs. The statement should indicate why you are interested in student affairs as a possible career.

Please return your personal interest statement and résumé as email attachments to Daniel Doerr, Director of Senior Year Experience, daniel.doerr@uconn.edu, by April 11, 2008. The EDLR 3298 instructors will review the applications based on quality of information provided. Applicants will be notified of final decisions at the end of April.
